Childress goes to Greece..Lebron to follow?

Alright I saw someone that was saying that Josh Childress going to Greece to get paid was going to start some huge trend of NBA players going overseas, and that stars were going to follow, blah, blah blah.

They went on to say that it was Stern's fault for globalizing the NBA.

All of this is ridiculous.

  1. Josh Childress is now the highest paid player in the league, his 3 year, 20 million dollar contract is unprecedented in the league.
  2. Josh Childress is not a star player, he was the sixth man on the 8th seed in the EASTERN Conference!!!
People need to stop and think for a minute

If playing overseas was so attractive, why do all of the world's best players come over here?

Why isn't Dirk Nowitzki in Europe?

Yao Ming in China?

Manu Ginoboli in South America?

I'll tell you why

the NBA is the richest basketball league in the world

they can't afford Lebron over there

the way I see it, if this starts a trend of 7th/8th men going overseas, then who cares?

we trade our mid-level players for their stars

works for me.

Now if you checked out my last blog, you'd see me saying that I was waiting for an elite high school player to elect not to go to college because they knew they'd only go one year, and elect to go pro elsewhere instead, the kid Jennings who was going to go to Arizona, didn't go to the NBDL like I was saying, because of a loophole, more than likely you can get paid more overseas, but he did go pro elsewhere which was the secondary point i was making. I knew it was going to happen. It takes one person to do it to make the other kids realize they can, THIS will start a trend. In fact I heard some other player decided not to come back for his junior year and signed a deal to play overseas.
